Leonard Punt and his wife established The Reading Tree in 1976 to help students develop their academic skills. Previously, he spent eleven years in the public school system as a teacher and reading clinician. He has two masters in the field of education, one from Wheaton College Graduate School and another from Loyola University.

Leonard has worked with a number of public and private schools on a consultant basis, training teachers and conducting specifically designed educational programs for elementary, secondary, and college students.

Presently Leonard serves as consultant to the Reading Tree by focusing on supervising both tutors and instructors and by refining Reading Tree programs on a consistent basis. Since 1991, Leonard has been included in Marquis Who’s Who in the Midwest and in 2003 he was included in Marquis Who’s Who in America.

Kurt Hodak purchased The Reading Tree in January 2007. He brings a lifelong love of learning and a desire to help children succeed academically to the business. Kurt holds an M.B.A. in Finance from Indiana University and a Bachelors degree from Heidelberg College with majors in Management Science and Mathematics. Prior to purchasing The Reading Tree, Kurt was a manager for a software development firm and has been a Member and Market Maker at the Chicago Board Options Exchange.
